Meet the Staff

Dear Parents

This is a rundown of who will be teaching your childs' gymnastics.

Kevin O'Brien  Graduated from Ball State University, where he was on the BSU mens gymnastics team.  After graduation, he was the assistant coach of the BSU womens Gymnastics Team. 

Terra O'Brien  Graduated from Ball State University where she was on the BSU womens Gymnastics team.  Terra received a teaching degree in Physical Education K through 12 and minored in coaching.  Terra has taught gymnastics for over 30 years.  Terra is Safety, Skill evaluator, KAT and PDCP certified.

Victoria O'Brien is a level 9 gymnast at Hoosiers.  She is the daughter of Kevin and Terra O'Brien, so she has been in the gym all of her life.  Victoria teaches school age classes, Tumble bugs and the Level 3 team.  Because of her training schedule, Victoria has only a few classes.  Victoria is PDCP certified.

Callie Beals  was a gymnast for 14 years (most of the time at Hoosiers).  Callie has also taught here for 5 years.  She has her degree in Health Sciences and works in the emergency room in Kendricks Hospital in Mooresville.  Callie is safety, KAT, 1st aid and CPR certified.

Mary Houser  Has been with Hoosier Gymnastics for many years.  Now that her youngest is a full time student, Mary will teach 2 mornings.  She will begin in the middle of September.

Byron Helton is also a former gymnast at Hoosier Gymnastics.  He was an AAU National qualifier.  Byron has been Kevin's assistant coach and boys class teacher for the past season.  He will be coaching the boys team with Kevin and also have his own classes too.

Cindy Kleyn  has been teaching for 20 years.  She was head coach of the Pike High School girls gymnastics team for 13 years.  Cindy is working on her 2nd Maters degree and is teaching part time at IUPUI.  Cindy will be teaching Thursday and Friday mornings.

Kristina Matson  has been one of our gymnasts for many years.  She has been teaching and assisting this past year.  Kristina is PDCP, KAT and Safety Certified.

Jill Mirise  Was a gymnast in Merrillville where she competed USAG and High School.  Jill ran the pre-school program at Interactive Gymnastics School for a number of years.  She retired to begin her family.  Now that her children are old enough to be in the gym, Jill will be teaching morning pre-school classes as well as the adult classes.

Brittany Nevitt is a current Level 8 gymnast at Hoosier Gymnastics.  She is PDCP, KAT, MELDA and Safety certified.  Brittany teaches pre-school and school age classes when not in training herself.

Kristina Reynolds  was also on our team for a number of years before she joined the Plainfield High School team.  Kristina now attends U of I and is a member of the track team.  This will be Kristina's 2nd year teaching with Hoosiers.  Kristina is Safety Certified.

Tiffany Smith  was a level 9 gymnast at Hoosiers who also achieved National status.  Tiffany graduated from Purdue and is doing her graduate work at IUPUI.  She will be helping our teams with dance.  Tiffany is Safety certified.

Terry Spencer  is a former Olympic qualifier.  She did not compete because of an injury.  Terry has only limited time so when she can, Terry comes in and helps the team girls.

Amber Trisler  comes to us from The Dance Refinery where she taught 18 month olds to pre-team.  She will be teaching some of our pre-school classes.

Marty Vaughan  is a science professor at IUPUI.  He is also an instructor of Marsha Arts.  Marty assists with the boys team.

Dani Welsh  was also one of our gymnasts for about 10 years.  She achieved Level 9 status.  This past year she was the assistant coach of the Level 4 and 5 girls team.  She was head coach of the level 3 team.  Dani is Safety certified.

Lisa Welsh  has been with us for 10 years.  She has been the pre-team, Level 4 and Level 5 coach.  This year Lisa will be coaching the Level 5 and 6 teams as well as Advanced Tumble Bugs.  Lisa is KAT, Skill evaluator and Safety certified.
